Conservatism has long clung to values that ostensibly include economic liberalism, small government, de-regulation, and free trade. A worrying trend since the rise of Ronald Reagan, however, is the tendency to increasingly pander to the most debased sect of the American citizenry with racist dog whistles that stoke their worst fears.
